Hey everyone, just moved to Queenstown for a few months and I'm looking for a flat. I've heard some areas are better than others, but I have no clue which ones to avoid. Like, is Fernhill sketchy at night? I saw a cheaper place near the bottom of the hill, but my coworker said it's loud and there's some dodgy characters. Also, anyone living in Frankton? Seems quiet but maybe too far from the action. I'm a single female, so safety is my top concern. Any tips on streets or suburbs to steer clear of? Cheers!

Totally get the confusion, mate. I just moved here myself a couple months back. Fernhill's not super sketchy, but it's a bit steep and the parking's a nightmare. From what locals told me, Queenstown Hill and Frankton are pretty safe and more convenient. Sunshine Bay's also chill but a bit quieter. Avoid some parts of the CBD late at night though, just standard city stuff.

Hey mate, I've been here a few years now. Fernhill can be a bit hit or miss—some parts are fine, but I'd avoid the lower end near the backpacker hostels. Had a mate who got his car broken into there. Personally, I'd recommend Frankton or Kelvin Heights if you can afford it. Quiet and safe. Also, check out the Remarkables Park area, newer and pretty chill.
