I just moved to Incheon for a study program and I'm trying to open a bank account at a major bank near Bupyeong Station. The teller handed me a form entirely in Korean and I froze. I got a bit of help but still confused about the requirements. Do I need my ARC or passport? Also, they mentioned something about a 'traveler's check' but I thought that was outdated. I also heard some banks don't allow international transfers without a Korean phone number—is that true? I have a prepaid SIM but not a proper contract. Any advice for a newcomer dealing with the bureaucracy here? I'm a bit frustrated because the language barrier is real, even in a big city like Incheon. If you've been through this, please share! 🙏
