So I've been living in Nanjing for about 6 months now and I swear every week I discover a new noodle spot that blows my mind. There's this tiny alley off Xinjiekou near the Starbucks — no English name, just a red sign with some Chinese characters — and they serve this insane beef noodle soup with hand-pulled noodles. Broth is super rich, beef is melt-in-your-mouth. But I'm wondering: is this the best in town or am I just not exploring enough? Also, a heads-up for newcomers: don't trust the guys outside the Confucius Temple selling "authentic" duck blood vermicelli — it's overpriced and bland. Go to the place near the south gate instead. Anyway, if anyone wants to do a noodle crawl this weekend, hit me up! I'm down to try as many bowls as my stomach can handle. 🍜
