Hey everyone, I just moved to Poznan for work and I'm looking for an apartment. I've heard mixed things about some neighborhoods here. Like, is Jeżyce okay? I walked around there and it seemed nice, but someone told me to avoid it at night. Also, what about Wilda? I saw some cheap places there but I'm not sure. I'm near the Old Town right now and it feels super safe, but rent is crazy high. I don't want to end up in a sketchy area. Can anyone recommend good spots for a single woman? Maybe Rataje? Or should I only look at the city center? Thanks!

I moved to Poznań a year ago and had similar worries. Jeżyce is actually quite nice - lots of young people, cafes, and it's walkable. I'd say it's safe, just avoid poorly lit side streets at night like anywhere. For families, Sołacz or Wilda are good. The city center is fine but can be loud. Check crime maps online if you're nervous, but overall Poznań is pretty safe compared to bigger cities.

I see your point about Jeżyce seeming nice, but I'd have to politely disagree with the idea that it's fully safe. I've lived there for a few months and while it has charm, I've had some uncomfortable encounters at night near the market square. Maybe consider Wilda or Łazarz instead—they've felt more secure to me as a newcomer.
