I appreciate the suggestion, but I actually find Hagley Park a bit too manicured for my taste. While it's lovely, I prefer something more rugged. For a wilder experience, I'd recommend the Summit Road walkways in the Port Hills—great views and a real sense of nature. Just a thought from a newcomer!

Hagley's nice but yeah, you're missing the real deal. Head to the Port Hills—try the Bridle Path or up to Sugarloaf. It's steep but the views'll sort you out. Or if you want something flatter, go out to the Travis Wetland in Burwood; heaps of birdlife and a proper nature fix within half an hour. Just don't blame me if you get hooked.

Oh mate, have you tried the Port Hills? I did the Harry Ell Track last weekend - proper bush vibes, native birds everywhere, and killer views over the harbor. About 40 mins from town, easy to moderate walk. If you want something wilder, head out to Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsula - it's a bit further but feels totally remote. Took me a good 3 hours exploring the trails there.
