Hey everyone, I just started working at a tech company in Bristol and everyone keeps inviting me to the pub after work. Back home, drinking is just something you do on weekends, but here it seems like a daily thing. I don't drink – it's just not my thing – but I don't want to come off as rude or antisocial. I've tried saying 'I'm fine with water' but then they look at me like I'm weird. Any tips on how British people handle this? Also, are there any good non-alcoholic hangouts near the city centre? I live near Stokes Croft, so anything around there would be perfect. Cheers!

Yeah, it's pretty common here. Just say "No thanks, I don't drink" and that's it. Most people won't pry. If they do, just smile and say "I'm not a fan" or "It's not for me." I'd suggest getting a soft drink or just water when you're there so you still hang out. In Bristol, no one will judge you.

Hey, I feel you! I'm in Bristol too, and the pub culture here can be intense. Have you tried just saying 'I'm not really a drinker, but I'll grab a lime and soda'? Most people won't push it. What's the vibe like at your place—are they chill or do they keep insisting?
