Hey, I've been living in Gomel for a few months and finally decided to get my finances sorted. Tried opening an account at Belarusbank on Sovetskaya, but they wanted a pile of documents I didn't have. Anyone know a branch that's less strict? Also, does Priorbank near the train station work for non-residents? I keep hearing rumors about special accounts for foreigners, but nobody can tell me the exact requirements. I'm tired of carrying cash everywhere – even the guy at the Tsentralny market looked at me weird when I paid with a 50-ruble note. Also, any tips on getting a Visa or Mastercard here? Mine expired and the replacement is taking forever. Cheers!
