Hey everyone! I just moved to Taipei for a language program and I'm staying in Xinyi District near Taipei 101. Everything looks super modern and clean during the day, but I'm a bit nervous about walking around after dark. I've heard Taiwan is really safe, but are there any spots in Xinyi I should avoid at night? Like, is Tonghua Night Market sketchy after 11 PM? Or what about the alleyways near Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall? I tried to explore on my own last night and got totally lost near the bus terminal—felt like I was wandering in circles. Also, is it okay to use my phone for maps while walking alone? Back home in Australia I'd be paranoid, but people here seem so chill. Any advice for a clueless newbie? Thanks a ton!
