Where should I live in Gadong as a clueless foreigner?

Hey everyone! I just moved to Brunei for work and I'm totally lost on where to live in Gadong. I've been staying at a hotel near The Mall for a week, but it's kinda pricey. I need a place that's safe, not too expensive, and close to some decent food spots. I heard Kiulap is nice but it's more commercial, right? What about Kampong Gadong proper? Is it walkable to the night market? I get around by walking and bus for now. Also, are there any neighborhoods where expats usually hang out? I don't want to be totally isolated. Oh, and how's the internet? I work remotely. Any tips on budget apartments or shared houses would be awesome. Thanks a ton!

Tutong Market's a solid start if you want a mix of covered stalls and open-air vibes, but it can get busy and a bit confusing for first-timers. I'd suggest starting with the nearby Taman Rekreasi Tasek - it's a small, peaceful park with clear paths and less crowd. Easy to navigate, good for getting your bearings. Then you can work your way to the market when you feel more confident. Just go early morning before it heats up!

I totally get the struggle! Tutong Market is actually a decent start—it's compact and easy to navigate without feeling overwhelming. The stalls are close together so you won't feel lost. I remember my first time there, I just wandered and grabbed some kuih. Definitely manageable for a newcomer, and you'll get a nice taste of local life. Give it a shot!
