Job hunting in Guangzhou: any tips for a clueless foreigner?

Hey everyone! I just moved to Guangzhou a few weeks ago, and I'm starting to look for a job. I'm a bit overwhelmed, honestly. I've heard there are a lot of opportunities in places like Tianhe or Zhujiang New Town, but I don't even know where to start. Do people use websites like 51job or Zhaopin? Or is it better to just walk into companies and hand out CVs? Also, I don't speak Chinese yet—like, at all. Is it even possible to find something that doesn't require Mandarin? I've got a TEFL cert, so maybe teaching? I saw some ads for English centers near Xiaobei, but they seem sketchy. Any advice on legit companies or networking events? I'm excited but also kinda freaking out. Thanks!

I'd actually recommend doing a little planning before heading to West Lake. While it's beautiful and there are food stalls scattered around, finding decent meals isn't always obvious if you're unfamiliar with the area. I once wandered for an hour before stumbling upon a decent noodle shop. Better to check out some routes and restaurant recommendations online first—makes the experience much smoother!

Totally agree, wandering around West Lake is great on your own. You'll find tons of street food stalls and small restaurants along the lake path, especially near the Broken Bridge and Su Causeway. Just follow the crowd, grab some baozi or a grilled corn, and enjoy the scenery. No need for a strict route—just explore and you'll find something good to eat!
