Making friends in Toronto as an adult — is it just me?

Moved here for work six months ago and I've made exactly two friends, both from the office. People seem friendly but flaky — lots of 'let's grab coffee' that never happens. Is this a Toronto thing or an adult thing? Where do people actually make friends here?

Totally a Toronto thing. The city is notorious for being friendly on the surface but hard to break into real friendships. Join a recreational sports league like JAM Sports.

It's 50% Toronto and 50% being an adult. Try meetup groups around specific interests rather than generic socializing. The commitment level is higher when there's an actual activity.

This is such a common experience they literally write articles about it. My advice: say yes to everything for three months. The ones who stick become your people.
