Looking for a bank that doesn't ask for a local reference

Hey everyone, I just moved to Paradise Island for work and I'm trying to open a bank account. Every bank I've been to so far wants a reference from a Bahamian resident, but I don't know anyone here yet. Has anyone found a bank that's more accommodating for newcomers? I'm near the Atlantis area. Also, any tips on the visa process? My work permit is taking forever. Any advice would be great, thanks!

I feel your pain, I went through the same thing when I moved here last year. Try ScotiaBank or Royal Bank of Canada—they sometimes waive the local reference requirement if you have a work contract or a letter from your employer. Also, ask about a 'non-resident' account; it might have fewer requirements. Hope that helps!
