I'm heading to Sun Moon Lake next weekend and trying to figure out the best way to get there from Taichung. I heard there's a bus from the high-speed rail station, but I'm staying near Fengjia Night Market, so getting to the HSR station itself is a hassle. Is there a direct bus from the city center? Or should I just rent a scooter? I'm comfortable driving but not sure about the mountain roads. Also, any tips on avoiding tourist traps at the lake? I've heard some boat tours are overpriced. Would appreciate any advice from locals or fellow travelers who've done this route. Thanks!
