So I've been renting a flat in Bedminster for just under a year, and out of the blue my landlord sends a notice saying they're bumping the rent by £200 a month starting next term. I checked the initial contract and there's a clause about rent review, but this feels way over the top, especially since nothing's changed in the area or the property. I've heard about the rent cap rules but not sure if they apply here. Has anyone successfully challenged an unfair rent increase in Bristol? Would love to hear your stories or any advice – I'm honestly stressed about budgeting for this.
