Hey everyone, I just moved to Vancouver from abroad and I'm trying to figure out the social rules. I went to Granville Island Market yesterday and smiled at a few people while walking, but they either looked away quickly or just stared at their phones. Back home, a smile and nod is pretty standard, so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Is it a Vancouver thing to keep to yourself in public? Also, at the bus stop near Main Street, nobody said a word—just headphones in and blank faces. I'm not upset, just genuinely curious if this is normal. Any tips on making friends here without seeming pushy? Thanks!
