Been here for a month now and I'm still not used to how laid back everything is. Like, I tried to buy some noodles at a kopitiam near Padungan at 9am and they were still setting up! Back home, shops are open by 7. Also, everyone keeps saying "slowly slowly" when I ask for directions, which is nice but not helpful when I'm lost. Is this normal for Sarawak or am I just unlucky with timing? Not complaining, actually kinda love it, just feels like I'm in a different time zone mentally. Anyone else felt this when they first moved?

I feel you! I moved here from KL a while back and had the same shock. The relaxed pace is real but you'll learn to love it. Kopitiams don't rush—they'll serve you when they're ready. Give it time; soon you'll appreciate having breakfast without the stress.
