Hey everyone, I just moved to Oxford for my studies and I'm looking for a gym that won't break the bank but is also not too intimidating for a complete beginner. I live near the city centre, so walking distance would be ideal. I've seen a few like David Lloyd and The Gym Group, but the prices seem steep for what I need. Also, does anyone know if the uni gyms are open to non-students? I just want a place where I can do some basic cardio and maybe lift some weights without feeling lost. Any tips on classes or cheap memberships would be appreciated. Cheers!

I totally get you—those fancy chains can be a rip-off. Try The Gym Leith on Duke Street; it's pay-as-you-go, no contract, and has all the basics. I've been going for a while and it's solid for the price. Also check out Leith Community Centre for cheap classes if you want variety.
