Hey everyone! I just moved to Glasgow for university and I'm still figuring out which neighborhoods are safe to live in. I've heard mixed things about Govanhill and Partick – some say they're fine, others warn about petty crime. I'm currently looking at flats in the West End around Kelvinbridge and Hillhead since it's close to campus, but rent seems steep. Is it worth it? Also, what about the city centre? I've walked around Buchanan Street during the day and it felt busy and fine, but I'm not sure about evenings near Central Station. Any locals or long-term residents have advice on areas to avoid or hidden gems where I won't get robbed? 😅 I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the options. Cheers!

I'm also new here, but I'd have to gently disagree about Govanhill. While it has a reputation, I've found it quite lively and not as dangerous as some make out. Partick is indeed nice and student-friendly. For safer bets, I'd recommend the West End around Hillhead or Kelvingrove – quieter but still close to uni. Just be street-smart anywhere.
