So I've been in Minsk for about 6 months now, and I still can't get used to how people avoid eye contact on the street. Back home, you'd nod or smile at strangers, but here everyone just stares straight ahead or at their phone. Is this just a city thing, or am I doing something wrong? Also, I've noticed that service staff can come off as rude, but I think it's just a cultural difference in directness. Anyone else have this experience? Any tips on fitting in better?
