Best way to get from Melbourne to Apollo Bay without a car?

Yo, need some local know-how. I'm heading to Apollo Bay next weekend, and I don't have a car. The V/Line bus from Southern Cross is an option, but it takes forever and stops everywhere. Anyone know a faster way? Heard rumors of some shuttle service from Geelong? Or maybe a rideshare group that does the Great Ocean Road run? Also, is the bus actually reliable? Last time I took it to Torquay it was an hour late. Keen to avoid that again. Cheers!

I totally get what you mean. I moved here a couple years ago, and when friends visit, I skip the usual spots. Fremantle is still cool, but lately I've been taking people to the Swan Valley instead—wineries, breweries, and the Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery. Feels more relaxed and less touristy. Or even just wandering around Leederville for coffee and vintage shops. Depends on the vibe, but Fremantle can still work if you avoid the market chaos.

Fremantle is solid, but it's hardly under the radar anymore. If you want non-touristy, try the Swan Valley—wineries, breweries, and art galleries without the crowds. Or head to the hills like Kalamunda for bushwalks and local cafes. Freo's great, but it's still a tourist hub.
