DIN WA

Hey everyone, I just moved to Christchurch from overseas and I'm trying to figure out which neighborhoods are safe to live in. I've heard some people say avoid certain areas, but I'm not sure if that's just rumors. Is Riccarton okay? I saw a cheap apartment there but a friend said it can be sketchy at night. What about Ilam? I'm a student so close to uni would be nice. Also, how's the city center after the earthquakes? Some buildings look abandoned but others are new. I'm excited to explore but also a bit nervous. Any tips on places to stay away from or areas that are super friendly? Thanks a ton!
