Born in Seoul, done extensive research on naengmyeon:
1. Konggil Jip in Myeongdong - old school, been there since the 1960s
2. Pyeongyang Myeonok in Mapo - the Pyongyang style naengmyeon is underrated
3. Haldong in Jongno - consistently excellent, no frills
The great debate: Pyongyang style vs Hamhung style. Different broths, different vibes. Both correct.
Protip: the summer months (July-August) are when everyone eats naengmyeon. Any place with a line is probably good.
