Happened to be in Nassau for Junkanoo and I had no idea what I was in for. The parade starts at 2am on Boxing Day and goes until dawn. Thousands of people in elaborate costumes made from crepe paper and cardboard, dancing to goombay drums and cowbells, the whole city out on the streets. The energy is unlike anything I have experienced. I danced with strangers, ate conch fritters at 4am, and watched the sun come up over the harbor. The Bahamas knows how to celebrate.
