I have been in Hong Kong for three months and I want to start exploring beyond the city. I know Macau is the obvious choice but I have already been twice. What are the other day trip options that people here actually recommend? I have heard about some of the outer islands and some places across the border in Guangdong. How easy is it to cross into mainland China for a day trip? And are there any hidden gems within Hong Kong itself that most expats miss?
