Visited the Hobbiton movie set in Matamata and I was not prepared for how emotional it would be. I grew up with Lord of the Rings and walking through the Shire felt genuinely surreal. The attention to detail is extraordinary - every hobbit hole is different, the gardens are real and maintained, and the Green Dragon pub at the end serves actual ale. The guide was brilliant and clearly loved the place. Even if you are not a huge fan, the setting in the rolling green hills is beautiful.
