I have been in Istanbul for three months on a tourist visa and I want to apply for a short-term residence permit. I have heard the process has changed recently and the appointment system is very backed up. Has anyone applied recently? How long did it take from application to receiving the permit? I have a rental contract and health insurance sorted. Also wondering if I need to use a lawyer or if it is manageable to do alone. Any recent experience would be really helpful.
