Finally did the Rideau Canal skate in Ottawa and it lived up to every expectation. The canal stretches for 8km and you can skate the whole thing, stopping at little huts along the way for beaver tails and hot chocolate. Rented skates at the entrance, wobbled for the first ten minutes, and then found my rhythm. The city skyline on one side, the Parliament buildings in the distance. Fell twice, did not care at all. This is what winter is supposed to feel like.
