Born and raised in Nassau. Junkanoo is the best and worst time to be in the Bahamas.

Best: the music, the costumes, the energy - nothing else like it in the Caribbean.

Worst: Bay Street becomes impossible. Everything closes early on the day itself.

Tips: go to the early morning parade (starts around 1-2am on Boxing Day), position yourself near the Junkanoo Center, bring earplugs, plan meals in advance.
