I am planning to visit Mount Bromo and I have heard the sunrise is the main event, which means waking up at 2am to get to the viewpoint in time. Is it really worth it? What is the experience actually like? I have heard it can be very crowded at the viewpoint. Are there ways to avoid the worst of the crowds? And what is the best way to get there from Surabaya or Malang? Any practical advice from people who have done it recently would be really helpful.
