Just arrived from the UK on a work visa. Trying to open a bank account.

Some banks said I need my passport, residence permit AND a reference letter from my employer. Others said just passport and visa.

Is ICBC actually as difficult as people say? Should I try a smaller bank first?

Also: does anyone else find WeChat Pay setup incredibly confusing as a foreigner?
