I am planning a trip to Australia and I keep going back and forth on whether to visit Uluru. It is a long way from anywhere and the flights are expensive. Is it genuinely worth the effort? I know you cannot climb it anymore but I have heard the walks around the base are excellent. What is the experience actually like? Is it one of those things that is more impressive in person than in photos? Any honest assessment from people who have been would help me decide.
