Did a two-day river cruise on the Kinabatangan River in Sabah and it was the best wildlife experience of my life. Saw wild orangutans in the trees above the river, pygmy elephants on the bank, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and a crocodile sunning itself on a sandbar. The guide knew exactly where to find the animals and the boat moved quietly so as not to disturb them. Stayed in a simple lodge on the riverbank and listened to the jungle at night. This is why people come to Borneo.
