I have been in Hong Kong for a month and I keep hearing I should do a day trip to Macau. Is it actually worth the journey? I have heard it is basically just casinos now but I have also heard the old Portuguese quarter is beautiful. How long does the ferry take? Is a day trip enough or should I stay overnight? And what are the things that are genuinely worth seeing beyond the casinos? Any honest assessment from people who have been recently would help me decide.
