Planning a road trip through the Scottish Highlands and I am overwhelmed by the options. I have about ten days and I want to see the best of the Highlands without rushing. I have heard about the North Coast 500 route but I am not sure if that is the right choice for a first visit. What are the absolute must-see places? And what are the hidden gems that most tourists miss? I am comfortable with driving on the left and I am happy to stay in small guesthouses. Any advice on the route would be really helpful.
