Visited Bialowieza Forest on the Polish-Belarusian border and it was one of the most extraordinary natural experiences I have had in Europe. The forest is genuinely ancient - some of the trees are 500 years old and the undergrowth is dense and wild in a way that managed forests are not. Saw European bison, which are enormous and magnificent. The guide was excellent and clearly passionate about the forest. This is what Europe looked like before humans cleared most of it. Deeply moving.
