Planning a trip to Yogyakarta and I am not sure how long to stay. I want to see Borobudur and Prambanan, do a Merapi volcano tour, and explore the city itself. Is three days enough or should I plan for longer? Also wondering about the best base - should I stay in the city center or somewhere closer to the temples? And is it worth hiring a guide or is it easy to navigate independently? Any advice from people who have spent time there would be helpful.
