Spent two weeks driving through Yunnan province and I feel like I discovered a completely different country. The landscape shifts from tropical rainforest to alpine meadows to ancient towns in the space of a few hours. Ate crossing-the-bridge noodles in Kunming, hiked Tiger Leaping Gorge, visited the old town of Lijiang, and ended up in Shangri-La watching yaks graze in front of a Tibetan monastery. Yunnan is the most diverse and surprising part of China I have visited.
