I just started a new job in London and my employer is asking for my National Insurance number. I applied for one three weeks ago but I have not heard anything. How long does it typically take? Is there a way to chase it up? My employer says I can still be paid without it but I am worried about the tax implications. Has anyone been in this situation recently? Any advice on how to speed up the process would be really helpful.
