Went to Batu Caves on a Wednesday morning at 8am and it was almost empty. Climbed the 272 steps without stopping every three meters for a selfie, actually heard the sounds of the cave, and spent time looking at the Hindu shrines without crowds pressing around me. The monkeys were still there and still trying to steal things but even they seemed more relaxed. The golden statue at the entrance is genuinely impressive when you can actually stand back and look at it. Timing is everything.
