Visited the Royal Regalia Museum in Bandar Seri Begawan expecting to be mildly interested and ended up spending three hours there. The collection of gifts given to the Sultan from world leaders is extraordinary - gold carriages, jeweled swords, elaborate ceremonial objects from every country imaginable. The chariot used in the coronation is genuinely spectacular. The museum is free and almost empty on weekdays. Brunei takes its royal history seriously and the museum reflects that.
