Just moved into a flat in Manchester and my landlord mentioned I need to sort out council tax myself. I have no idea how this works. Do I register with the council directly? How much is it typically? I am a single person living alone - I heard there is a discount for that. Also wondering if there are any exemptions for people on certain visa types. Any advice from people who have dealt with this recently would be really helpful.
