Just arrived in Shanghai for a six-month assignment and I am struggling with payments. Everything seems to be WeChat Pay or Alipay and cash is barely accepted anywhere. I have a foreign passport and a foreign bank card. Is it possible to set up these apps properly as a foreigner? I have heard there are some workarounds but also that it has gotten harder recently.
