I have been to a lot of cities that claim to have great coffee but Wellington actually delivers. Every single cafe I walked into had a proper espresso machine, knowledgeable baristas, and beans sourced from interesting places. Had a flat white at a tiny place on Cuba Street that was genuinely one of the best coffees of my life. The city is small but the coffee culture punches way above its weight. No wonder New Zealanders get frustrated with coffee everywhere else.
